Disabling startup services

Whenever I turn on my fedora core 2 box, it takes several minutes longer to boot than I should like. This is because in the beginning there are several services that start that I dont necessarily need. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can disable these unwanted services,

rc.d

almost all services are started via rc.d

I think redhat there's a folder in /etc/rc.d/ for each runlevel named rc(runlevel).d - i.e rc3.d

take out what you don't want :-)

go google for rc.d and read up on it.
