This is how it goes. Boot-up open Network Device Control and I get connected to Earthlink ISP. After checking email and surfing for a time I notice that web sites don't open. Checking email returns a connect to mail server error. I close mozilla and evolution and deactivate the connection and then activate it again and I'm able to resume online activities.

When I boot-up and try to login to Access4Free I get the usual modem sounds but no connection. When I try to cancel the dial-up procedure I have to click on Force Quit, which closes the dialog window, but the modem continues to dial. I have to reboot to get it to stop.

I don't remember this problem when using RH8 or FC1.

Are these problems connected or do I have two problems?

Check /var/log/messages. It must tell you the reason of deconnection. (authentification / Hangup/ etc..)
