What command did you issue to upgrade with YUM?
Have you read the fedorafaq?

Fedora uses udev and autofs to automount the filesystems on media (note, one does not mount devices)

You should check the services, and make sure the autofs daemon is activated (or even present)

It could be as simple as missing entries in fstab, or a complex as needing to install/upgrade udev and autofs ... and/or making sure the kernel is compiled to enable these things.

KDE is irrelevent.

How do I go about having FC5 mount my USB Hard Drive automatically at boot, as if it were vfat? I have it configured in fstab file, but it won't mount ext3 (id 83 or 8e). I formatted the drive with ext3 id 8e, and I want all users to be able to have r/w access.

How do I go about doing this?

At boot? Make sure you havn't included "noauto" in the options line. Stick "ext3" in the fs feild. (Show us the fstab entry.)

It should be mounting automatically when you hotplug it - there should be a gui for configuring the way removable media is handled ... normally called "disks" something something.
