i have installed fc3 and choose the wrong desktop manager. i choose xfce or xcfe or whatever it is and i want all users. including me to get the kde desktop.
i tryed the desktop switching tool, but i still end up with the wrondg desktop mqnager. how can i go about doing this permenently? thanks! |
edit the /etc/sysconfig/desktop file. Change to "KDE" and save.
I'd do a reboot but not neccessary |
ok

To get the kdm login manager edit /etc/inittab
# Run xdm in runlevel 5 x:5:respawn:/usr/bin/kdm -nodaemon Brian1 " Google the Linux way @ http://www.google.com/linux " |

change it. from GNOME to KDE. I tried experimenting by having more than one in the file and all I got was problems. Also after you change that the switchdesktop doen't work anymore.(atleast in fc2 it didn't). When I install fc for someone wanting to play around with it, I always install everything(I know it's like 6.8 gig of space), So they have everything they could possiblly need, including switchdesktop-gui which seems to work better than just switchdesktop from a command line.
