Can anyone help please?

HD set up

80 gig hard drive
partition 1 30 gig windows XP pro
partition 2 30 gig linux (FC3) partition
partition 3 Prevously FAT32 reformated to NTFS storage

I reformated the 3rd partition to NTFS in windows

next time i booted i got the following:-

For the first word, TAB
lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible
completions of a device/filename. ]

managed to boot into windows with the following

grub>rootnoverify (hd0,0)
grub>makeactive
grub>chainloader +1
grub>boot

anyone any ideas how to fix the issue with grub? and/or how to get into FC3???

i am completely lost now... still trying to learn linux

thanks in advance

Dan

At the GRUB command prompt, enter:

find /boot/grub/grub.conf

It should print (hd0,1) which is your second partition /dev/hda2. Then enter:

configfile (hd0,1)/boot/grub/grub.conf

What do you get?

If that doesn't lead to anything, boot first CD of Fedora Core into rescue mode and follow the on-screen instructions carefully. After entering your system, run "grub-install /dev/hda" to reinstall GRUB.

Can't tell you more without knowing more details about your installation.

I had a similar problem when I installed Fedora 3. I finally had success when I installed it selecting only the default offerings.

When I tried to install everything, GRUB did not install correctly and I got results similar to yours.
