It may not like the random colons throughout the command there. I can honestly say I've never had a command in sudoers that contained colons. It's probably a bug in that case. Have you tried reducing it to the smallest case that reproduces those errors?

hi matir,

first of all, never open the sudoer file without visudo, secondly I got it to run with the rm command, but if I run cvs, I get a syntax error in the red highlighted line: (visudo tells you that, you can't save it)

sudoer file:
Code:
Defaults env_reset
Defaults env_keep = "COLORS DISPLAY HOSTNAME HISTSIZE INPUTRC KDEDIR \
                        LS_COLORS MAIL PS1 PS2 QTDIR USERNAME \
                        LANG LC_ADDRESS LC_CTYPE LC_COLLATE LC_IDENTIFICATION \
                        LC_MEASUREMENT LC_MESSAGES LC_MONETARY LC_NAME LC_NUMERIC \
                        LC_PAPER LC_TELEPHONE LC_TIME LC_ALL LANGUAGE LINGUAS"

# Runas alias specification

# User privilege specification
root ALL=(ALL) ALL
Hubert ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /etc/xinetd.d/cvs -d :pserver:cvs@code.open-bio.org:/home/repository/bioperl checkout bioperl-live
thanks......
