Hi,
I have a Compaq presario note book with 80 GB HDD. It is configured in a dual boot mode- XP and ubuntu.

I also have a desktop- 2 HDD 40GB each- dual boot- one HDD- windows 2000 and the second hdd- FC-4.

I have bought an external HDD (western digital) and I wish to make a bootable image of my desktop OS (windows 2000 and FC-4)on this external, so that i can use any of the 4 of my existing OS on my laptop.

1) is it possible?
2) can some one provide details about how it can be done? I dont have much idea about boot loader.

I guess this could be done with a little fiddling.
Installing fedora to an external drive is a pretty common thing to do. Not heard of doing this with windows... I don't think the windows installer will let you install to an external drive. I imagine that copying the existing installation over would breach the terms of your EULA.

It is also unlikely that it will work on your laptop if you did.
