Create new from context menu

how to add templates to create new document from right click context menu

david_ross 02-07-2005 03:58 PM

I'm not sure about the path in fedora but try running this:
locate "templates/.source"

You'll need to create the template in the .source directory and a .desktop file in the templates directory

johnnydangerous 02-07-2005 04:22 PM

/usr/share/templates/.source
/usr/share/templates/.source/URL.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/DVDROM-Device.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/ZIP-Device.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/CDWRITER-Device.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/CDROM-Device.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/MO-Device.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/NFS.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/Program.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/emptydir
/usr/share/templates/.source/emptydir
/usr/share/templates/.source/HTMLFile.html
/usr/share/templates/.source/Floppy.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/TextFile.txt
/usr/share/templates/.source/CAMERA-Device.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source/HD.desktop
/usr/share/templates/.source

The .desktop file contains the internationalised language strings used to describe the entry in the menu and also a link to the actual template file.

Good enough for what? You can customise it as much as you want and it offers a good starting point. There are corporate versions - see:
