CRC error during FC install

When I try to install FC3 (tried w/ FC1 as well), as soon as I pressed enter for graphical install, I get an error. It says
Code:

Uncompressing Linux

crc error

 --system halted

my system specs are:

Foxconn 661FX7MF-S motherboard
P4 2.8GHz HT processor
10 GB Seagate HD
512MB Ultra PC3200 RAM
Artec 52X CD-RW
Onboard audio, video and LAN

The wierd thing is that I can boot and run Knoppix fine and Mandrake 10.1 installed perfectly fine and was running. However Fedora (any core) won't install and in a last ditch effort, neither would WindowsXP Pro. So, I was thinking maybe there was a hardware problem, but then why would Knoppix and Mandrake work fine? I used Memtest86 to check out the memory and it was fine. I used Western Digital DataLifeguard to check out the drive on my other computer, it was fine. I switched cables for the drives, still nothing. Anyone have any ideas? Please??? I'm getting desperate here! Thanks :)

ok I used another CD-ROM device and it got this far:
Code:

RAMDISK: compressed image found at block 0
crc error
VFS: Cannot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown-block(8,3)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unkown block(8,3)

help?
