cpuspeed
I get an error about cpuspeed on startup of Fedora Core 2 Test 1 what does it do and is it important? At the mo I don't have the exact error to hand but I could get it later if it is important..
Thanks |
Exact error would be helpful and any other info is great too, like in you get this error, does it cease to boot the rest of the system up at all? Or does it continue booting?
|
Well I can't get the exact error because the system continues to load and so I dont have time to write it all down but the general jist of it is
error cpuspeed cannot write due to file / folder being non existant or something like that  |
here is the hole error message:
cpuspeed: /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_govenor no such file or directory |
I've had that error show up as well. When I upgraded to kernel 2.6 all it is is when you compiled the kernel you had the cpu speed set not just as a pentium whatver it is but as other stuff as well.
Can't remember what its exactly called however its not that important the system should still run fine as long as you set the basic x86 architecture as well. |
That should only matter if you're trying to get speed-stepping working on a laptop(slowing the processor down when not in heavy use).
It means that it's enabled in the kernel, but can't find the hardware that does it. --Shade |
