Couldnt install kernel source on FC5

I upgraded an FC4 installation to FC5. At the FC4 times kernel was upgraded from up2date once or twice with rpm package and there is kernel-version source installed. Now after upgrading to FC5 i looked the kernel version of the new system and downloaded the source rpm from a mirror. I wanted to install it so i would at least now install the wireless driver or ndiswrapper but i couldnt yesterday. The rpm -i packet command turns back Nokey etc and i used many rpm options but couldnt succeed. i downt what im missing (of sleepless).Oh i didnt downloaded and installed the kernels tar package cause i wanted the kerlen to be rpm-able.

And having a p4 system it seemed faster to me and maybe ill soon try to do a fresh install to gain a fresh system.

Are you trying to compile your own wireless driver/ndiswrapper? Because what you need if you're trying to compile a kernel module is the kernel-devel package available from http://download.fedora.redhat.com/ . Does that help? (I couldn't get the kernel source package to install on mine either.)

Hi guys,

just to drop a line here, check at:

people dot redhat dot com/davej/kernels/Fedora/FC5/

I've got some errors trying to install kernel source via package manager too, but when I downloaded srpm & rpm from this guys site and installed manually (rpm -i ) everything went smooth.

Hope that helps.

PS The url is not quite an url, as it seems I haven't got the right to post links yet or smthng like that
