i am trying to install fedora core 2, i have burnt the third disk many times and downloaded it twice so far, and everytime it has failed during installation. before the installation begins it gives me the chance to check all cd's to make sure they are fine. so far i have no been able to burn a cd that will pass. is this possibly a bad iso image, or does it have something to do with the burning process.
downloaded images from fedora.redhat.com and a mirror.
thanks alot
michael
lokuststar: This may have nothing to do with your problem, but it happened to me recently. One of my computers was having similar problems with the FC2 CD checking and installation, except that the CD check of the FC2 Installation Disks would only fail on that system and would pass on other systems. It drove me nuts for a week.
To make a long story short, the problem was associated with a “bad” memory module (SDRAM PC-100 128MB non-ECC). The memory module would pass the BIOS check and seemed to run the system OK (i.e., no lockups or strange events). If you moved the memory module to a system that had previously and successfully “passed” the FC2 CDs, it would start “failing” the CDs. I tried the module in a total of three “good” systems and the CD check would start “failing” every time the “bad” memory module was present.
The moral to this story is to check the CDs in a different system and see if they pass. If they pass, then start looking at possible hardware issues.
