Core 2 updating problem!!

Hi,
I just installed Fedora Core 2, and I am a newbie. Fedora was yelling at me that I needed to update my computer. After that now on my boot loader there are 2 fedora versions that pop-ed up. What do I do? Do I have 2 versions of Fedora? Will me files go to the new version?

Please Help

Thank You!

The different versions you mentioned are different kernels you can run. Select the higher version number to run the newest kernel. You should be able to run on either though.

You should be able to edit them out of the Grub configuration file (I'm not on my Linux box right now or I would tell). Having the extra kernels to boot from have actually saved me a time or two when an update in Fedora didn't agree with the latest kernel.

The proper way to remove it would be to do an uninstall of the older kernel. This can be done either via the "rpm -e" command or the "yum remove" command. I agree with the earlier post though, keep them around you never know when you may have to go back a kernel or two.

On my FC1 machine I usually keep at least two previous verisons of the kernel around. After that I remove them to reclaim the HD space.
