Question Core 2 package manager incompatible with up2date?

Hi, I have just installed Core 2, for the second time , and immediately ran up2date (via exclamation mark icon). It did a lot of stuff including installing a new kernel.

There was one complaint over xorg-x11 being corrupted which I put down to a download error. I ran up2date again and it seemed to reget the xorg package then said it was already installed.

I rebooted to the new kernel and everything seems ok. Except the package manager seems to think there is no X11 or gnome package installed anymore.

I'm wary of using the package manager now because I think I broke my install using it last time after running up2date.

So, I have two (sets of) questions for the Fedora pros out there:

1) Does the package manager know to look for more recent versions or is it stuck on one set of versions for it's packages? How can I get the package manager and the up2date manager to play nicely?

2) How can I check that the updated xorg-x11 is working properly and not that the system just _thinks_ it is?

Thanks in advance.

update on up2date

Apologies if everyone knows this but to answer my own question (I think) there is a bug in up2date which defaults its downloads to rhn instead of fedora. To fix this you need to comment out the up2date default line in

### the defalt rhn (using "default" as the url means
### use the one in the up2date config file
#up2date default
