I don't now very well how it is in Debian but Fedora loads up X as part of the boot process to show the progress bar, is this the logo you're talking about?
If it is and everything works well after boot never mind, to me it appears to be a problem with the memory not beeing well written or read, you can try and run a memory diagnose software to check it out. The Fedora cd brings in it a memory test software that's called 'memtest86', just boot with the cd and write 'memtest86' to start the test if any errors are detected they are reported in the bottom part of the screen. Alldow you can not test the graphic board memory you will be sure that there nothing wrong with main memory modules.
If you're talking about an error in the very first image that appears that you is loaded by grub, the boot loader, that one is completely managed by grub and the graphic board even before the OS boot.
Everything should appear the same way in every boot, to me it appears you may have some problem.
Another thing try to undo your overclocking to see if everything works well, I have allready have some problem whith overclocking in linux.
Hope this is of any help.
