compiz,system-config-display problem

hi everybody

i have a problem with compiz which stopped working after the latest system updates which includes the new kernel version
[root@eslam-husseiny ~]# uname -r
so i decided to return back to the previous version of kernel but i found that compiz stopped working on it too

i realized that i don't have the latest version of kmod-nvidia and my system is up to date
[root@eslam-husseiny ~]# rpm -q kmod-nvidia
and when i tried to execute system-config-display command i found this error
[root@eslam-husseiny ~]# system-config-display
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/system-config-display/", line 314, in <module>
    hardware_state = XF86HardwareState(xconfig)
  File "/usr/share/system-config-display/", line 174, in __init__
  File "/usr/share/system-config-display/", line 293, in init_from_xconfig

  File "/usr/share/system-config-display/", line 57, in compare_resolution
    (w1, h1) = resolution_from_string(res1)
  File "/usr/share/system-config-display/", line 47, in resolution_from_string
    return (int(tokens[0]), int(tokens[1]))
IndexError: list index out of range
/usr/share/system-config-display/system-config-display: line 2:  7163 Segmentation fault      (core dumped) python2 /usr/share/system-config-display/ $@
moreover i have an error while booting
[root@eslam-husseiny ~]# cat /var/log/boot.log-20100201
Enabling the nvidia driver: /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions: line 520: 1004 Segmentation fault "$@"
my vga card is
[root@eslam-husseiny ~]# lspci
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 9600M GT (rev a1)
any advice towards this problem

thanks in advance

I am not sure if it helps you but according to my own problems with Compiz after the upgrade of Fedora I recommend you

- to check your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file (you can apply nvidia-xconfig to populate it)
- to check your LD_LIBRARY_PATH (there might be conflict of libraries if it points to /lib before /lib64)

dialog = xConfigDialog.XConfigDialog(hardware_state, xconfig, videocard.VideoCardInfo())
File "/usr/share/system-config-display/", line 640, in __init__
if len(self.xconfig.layout[0].adjacencies) > 1:
