Hi, I have been playing with Slackware for a while, but recently I decided to see what my nice shiny new 64 bit processor can do, so I have installed Fedora Core 5.
I have noticed a few things different betweent the two distros but there are a few things that I really like about Slackware that I hope to recreate in FC. (I work in the runlevel 3 most of the time so bare with me

)
1) I know about .bash_profile files etc, and I imagine that this problem whill be related to that:
How can I have Fedora tell me how many failed login attempts there have been since the last login?
2) Not so much a comparison point, but it seems that when I set the screensaver to require a password to stop, I can just do ctrl-alt-backspace and restart X, which surely defeats the point of being able to lock the workstation? Is there a patch for this, or will I just have to live with this?
3)I have the firewall and SELinux enabled, but even so, I seem to have a lot of open ports, some of which don't seem to be the kind of thing that I want open, having read various stuff about various ports. How can I close these ports and make sure that only what I want open stays open?
That'll do for now, if you guys could help me!
