Compaq IJ650 Install and SoundBlaster Audigy LS Install
I am fairly new to Fedora Project and am still trying to get everything working. I installed Fedora next to WinXP on my Compaq Presario 5000 Desktop. Everything worked fine but i am having a little bit of trouble getting my SoundBlaster Audigy LS sound card to work. Fedora detects it but it will not play any sound. I have heard about ALSA but i have no clue on how to install that.
Also i am trying to use my Compaq IJ650 printer. It works sort of. It is detected by Fedora but when I try to print something, it only pushes out a blank peice of paper. No Print. Again i am pretty new and not exactly sure how to use the Terminal to get around. So if someone can give me any support on these things, it would be greatly appreciated! |
for the sound :
in a terminal, run "alsamixer" and adjust levels (headphone and PCM), they are usualy down when starting KDE (I don't know why ) if u are trying to play mp3 using xmms, download first of all xmms-mp3 plugin and install it. I hope u will enjoy your sound card with Fedora Good luck .;) |
I forgot
Reset your printer and it should work if detected. Good luck |
tried the alsamixer in the Termanal and turned everything up that i could. I still can not get any sound.
