Choosing "Critical" FC5 Updates

I've just finished installing FC5 on a new PC, from ISO's I downloaded last week. yum update reports there are over 500Mb of available updates for lots of packages to be applied - I've cancelled this for the moment, because this will take a while to downolad over my 256K DSL modem.

I'm after a strategy on dealing with updates. It looks as though Software Updater allows me to choose packages I actually want to update (is this correct?), but I'm unsure of which ones "need" to be updated.

My primary objective is the security of financial transactions conducted via Firefox. Which packages - if any - do I need to apply with this objective in mind? Are there any published guidelines on which packages should be updated according to the intended useage of the machine? Or do I just bite the bullet and install them all?

Your suggestions/insights to a newbie appreciated! TIA

Can you wait for fc6? It should be available by next week. Also, for future reference, you can download an image with the latest updates from here

Thanks, jlo_sandog. Does FC6 address this specific issue?
