Changing the Gnome Login Screen

Hi all,

I have a RedHat Fedora Core 4 install running the default Gnome Login screen. I would like to customize this screen to add a warning banner. Does anyone know which file I need to edit. I would assume its a graphic file. What editor would I use to edit it?

Thanks in advance,

Larry

Use vi or I like gvim to make an ascii text file with the contents of your warning message. Save the file in /etc/X11/gdm, then edit the gdm.conf file and un-pound the InfoMsgFile line and insert the path/filename of your warning file after InfoMsgFile=

Next log out and see your warning. I had to keep playing with different fonts and line lengths to get it to look how I wanted. Also a large portion of the gdm.conf is controlled/setup by th GUI under Application->System Settings->Login Screen.

Have fun customizing.
