Okay, so I got Samba sort of working *Woot woot* but coz its called localhost by default, when you try to connect it goes to the local computers shares. I tried 'hostname linuxbox' but after a restart it reverts back to localhost again! Rahhh!!!!!

So I have searched the Internet for solutions, but none have worked, like chaging etc/host or /etc/sysconfig/network, or maybe I'm just doing it wrong...

I would like it set as linuxbox, workgroup is workgroup dunno bout domain, but I've heard that doesn't matter.

Edit these files:

/etc/hosts
/etc/sysconfig/network
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifg-ethX <-where X is the number of your ethernet adapter

Run these commands after the file edits:

hostname <new-hostname>
/sbin/service network restart

And with Samba, you can edit the samba share names and server string as well, etc.

Okay so I did that, and now it shows up as that the hostname, but it's still localhost in Samba!?!
Is there somewhere else that configures the host name in samba?
