CDROM doesn't mount in KDE, FC3

When I click on the CDROM icon on my desktop, i get:

mount: /dev/hdc already mounted or /media/cdrom busy

But the CDROM doesn't get mounted as can be seen from #df

I can mount the CDROM using either GNOME or a simple shell without any problems. However, after i click on the CDROM icon in KDE, not even typing the command in a terminal works.

I have updated to the latest udev, as recommended on FC3 website and still no luck...

Any suggestions?

P.S. Also, how can I rid my desktop of this annoying CDROM icon? Wiith FC3 there is no desktop entry int $HOME/Desktop for CDROM and it doesn't seem to be removable.

as root mount it from a console then click on your cd icon. Does it work? If it does then its a permission problem. If not then I don't know need more info. As for the cdrom icon goto control centre desktop, behavior, on one of the tabs it says device Icons uncheck it.

It works after I mount it as any user from a console. Clicking on the CD icon after that siply opens /media/cdrom. I don't think it has anything to do with permissions...

Deleting the icon has worked - thanks a lot!

Here is some more info if that will help to solve the problem:

1. I can mount the cdrom from shell immediately after i kill kio_devices
2. dmesg output right after i click on the icon:

...

Any help would be greatly appreciated

What kind of a cd is it? Game.....Audio.....? looks like it has something to do with the cd's format "Mircosoft Joliet". I've never had a problem with cd's but come to think of it I have no joliet cd's. Sso your guess is as good as mine.
