cant boot new kernel, Fedora 4.

The Problem

My installation of fedora 4 doesnt or read/write my NTFS drives.

Solution

update my kernel using the up2date native software, all was going to plan i downloaded the new kernel, and a couple of hundred :S updates... but i am still running kernel-2.6.9-1.667 but the new kernel is installed kernel-2.6.12.1378_FC3 all i have to do is reboot the system and it will test my new kernel, BUT IT WONT!!

after this new kernel is installed, hopefully i will be able to download and use one of the .rpm's available... because there isnt one available for my current kernel...

is this a good plan? will it work? why wont my new kernel boot? what happens in Season 2 episode 3 of Lost? any answers would be great.

Pete

What happens when you try to boot your new kernel? Do you have any error messages or progress details?

that would explain, why it isnt working but the kernel it suggested to download was the *************_FC3

is there any other way to download a newer kernel, other than the up2date software? links?

P.S cheers
