I have installed Fedora Core 5 by itself, dual-boot, and then wiped the drive cleaned and gave Fedora alllllllll the space. BUT IT STILL WON'T ADD RPMs. Whenever I go to add-software or whatever it is, It says "retrieving software info" and then its says it can't retrieve the info. THEN I try to run an RPM I downloaded for a MP3 player, IT DIDN'T WORK, then I tried to install the program from a tar.gz file. I used the ./config but it says GLIB CONFIG is not there or misconfigured, and I believe it is 2.0... please help if you can.

try to use the yum to install the latest software with there dependencies.

I have no internet to that computer yet....... cause I can't get wireless to work...

You really ought to get internet first if possible. It sounds like you're having trouble with dependencies on the rpms, which would be handled for you by yum. You'll presumably have to get the net working sooner or later, so you might as well do that first as it will make everything else easier.
