can't view the .php web pages
When I download some web pages they get saved as .php web pages.
But after going offline I am unable to view these. I rt click and say view with firefox, but it says: you have chosen to open index.php which is a php script what should firefox do with this file open wih firefox save to disk If I say open then it opens the same window again. Obviously the php support needs to be there. I found out php and php module both are installed in my laptop. What should I do to enable viewing of these pages ? thanks in advance nishith |
How did you save them?
File->save page as ? Rename the .php file to .html and see if it works |
*.php VS *.html
Firefox is supposed to display html and xml files, but not script files. Based on the filename extension *.php files are not what Firefox does support.
It would be nice if Firefox would check if a local php file maybe had html contents, or maybe html contents with embedded php code, but I guess this would also have some unwanted side effects. Right now you have to change the extension from *.php to *.html. Dillo does open *.php files immediately - if it's a real PHP script, then it is displayed as a text file. for me , when I click on save page as on a .php file, firefox automatically makes it into index.php.htm ...

I can't open any link from firefox if the link points to a .asp page. It opens a dialog asking what application should it use to open the link....or should it just save it to disk ???!?! I think there is something I haven't done right any help would be welcome nishith |
are you sure ... did you try out some actual working asp page ? like orkut.com etc. ?
|
absoulutely sure.
I go to a demat account which has various links. When I hover over the link it says it will open a .asp page. But clicking on it just opens a file open dialog box in my laptop which has fedora. any hints on fixing this ? nishith |
