Can't go down to runlevel 3

Pardon my stupidity, but I can't get my box to go down to runlevel 3. I know how to get it to boot to runlevel 3 by default, but that's not what I want to do. FC1 doesn't seem to want to let me down a runlevel once the machine is up and running.

init 3 and telinit 3
both result in "command not found"

This is getting a little aggravating. What should I do? How should I compile in the init or telinit commands, or is there another command that might work?

Boy, do I feel dumb. Yeah, in RH-based, a lot of stuff is run from /sbin... duh. That's where you start your services and whatnot... jeez, I'm gettin' slow.

Thanks.
