I recently installed Fedora 6 64 bit
I need to add programs to get my modem working I lack certain utilities to install the modem software When I click on Add programs, I get a message saying it can't find the resources My resources are CD's not the internet and It is trying to look at the internet which is unavailable because I have no functioning modem (or any other link). When I click on ok, the add/remove software window closes. Ok! how do I tell Fedora 6 64 bit to install software from the CD's |
You cannot use yum without internet.
Via command line, change directory to the CD as such: cd /media/FCxxxx/Fedora/RPMS Replace xxxx with what is appropriate. Install packages needed with rpm command as such: rpm -ivh package name What type of modem, if it is a pci internal modem, only Lucent Win modem can be installed on 64 bit Linux. |
