O-kaaaay... so this program is essentially giving you the same error as cdrecord. Of course, that could be because there's something wrong with this "modified" version of cdrecord, and it's being passed through to gearGUI (which is just a front-end to cdrecord, when all is said and done).
Maybe we should be looking at your /etc/fstab and your /boot/grub/grub.conf. Which Fedora is this, and what kernel are you using?
However, before going to all the trouble of posting that, maybe you should look at
the xcdroast atapi mode failure (fc2) thread on the fedora-list at redhat.com.
