hi all
i have dell inspiron la:
1)i installed windows7[32 bit] in c: drive
2)i installed fedora 15 in same drive, and bootloader will be[ as-i selected ]in windows 7[BCZ IN FEDORA 15 WE HAVE OPTION TO CHANGE THE BOOT LAODER LOCATION]
above first 2 steps are working fine

problem is with the fedora 12:
3)i installed windows7 [32 bit] in c: drive
4)i installed fedora 12 in same drive, and bootloader will may be fedora[bcz in fedora 12 we dont have option to change the boot loader location]

after finishing everything here,in boot menu i seen windows7+fedora 12
when i select fedora 12 its working fine
but when i select windows 7 its giving error like:BOOTMGR missing
press ctrl+del to reboot

questions:
5)what is the problem ????
6)during fedora 15installtion time i seen all the packages were installed like :package name.numer<version>.i686
7)during fedora 12 installtion time i seen all the packages were installed like :package name.numer<version>.i386

That would be surprising but, I've never installed Fedora 12 so...??
I'm not really sure what you did here. Did you install Fedora 15 and windows 7 on this computer and then install Fedora 12 and windows 7 over the previous install??

The error message indicates a problems with the windows boot files and the best way to get information on that is to go to the site below, run the bootinfoscript and review the results.txt file it produces. If it doesn't help, post it here and someone may be able to help. By the way, there are instructions in a link in the Description box on the page:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/bootinfoscript/

Hello connect2janu,

I have a similar issue, but with Opensuse 12.1 x64 and Win 7 x64 (installing incorrectly GRUB on win7 partition). I just do the following (I don't remember the exact steps and i don't have the source):
1. boot into Fedora 12
2. mound with rw permission to the partition where win is installed
3. put the win install disc on the disk tray
4. once loaded, copy the files bootmgr* (i don't exactly remember if other files should be copied).
5. remove the disc from tray and reboot the computer
6. try to boot Windows
7. check if everything is fine.

There is also a tool from cli on Windows restore, but it wasn't useful to me.

If you look at the output you posted, you can clearly see the only windows partition (of which there are 6) which has boot files is sda2. I have no idea what is on all those windows partitions or what happened but, the only thing I could suggest is to edit the /boot/grub/grub.conf file in Fedora and change your windows entry to the following:

Quote:

title windows 7
rootnoverify (hd0,1)
chainloader +1
