hey go to the interective mode

when it boots up on the very start screen after grub u will see the quote if yu want to boot in interective mode press "I" now
just do it
and now it will ask u for each service yes/no
when it comes to smartd just se no
it will skip it
an yu will boot into the system .
for the next time

disable the smartd service from the startup ..
it is there in system config services ..

thanks n regards

correct :-) what narendra.pant said
and then open a console
and run as root
chkconfig smartd off

or like narendra.pant said use system-config-services
