How would one do this sort of thing on Fedora Core 5 ?

It's visually very interesting IMO

Yeah, that XGL sure looks impressive. I don't know how useful it'd be though.

Might be some fiddling involved in getting it working... I dunno. I've not tried it.

normally i don't like stuff like that, but except for the "rubbery" window effects, it looks pretty cool, actually. it seems very ergo-friendly and functional: the ability to see 2 desktops at once with that cube effect, windows opening more "organically" instead of harshly popping up in your face, etc. it probably slows down your system to a crawl, though.

If you like XGL, you should download the Kororaa liveCD & have a play..

It doesn't slow the system down at all. I first tried it using an MX440 graphics card (very under-powered) and it worked almost perfectly - slight issues with flexing a DVD-playing movie window.

With a newer card, it worked perfectly on all tasks, with no slowdown at all.
