Automounting problems with FC3

Hi. I have two LG optical drives, one is a CD-RW and the other a simple CD-ROM, but Fedora Core 3 displays the last one as a CD-R in the "Computer" window and every time I open the tray it acts as if a blank CD was inserted, no matter what disc I put inside, and double clicking opens the CD/DVD creator window. How do I manually set this thing as a CD-ROM and not a CD-R? The fstab and hwconf entries for both drives are the same and the CD-RW works fine. I'm clueless here. Any ideas? Seems that nobody is having this issue but me!

Well, I'm fine.
But I have only a LG CD-RW.
When I got to Computer it says CD-RW but I can read from it.
Also, if you wait a while (quite long, but the use sounds made by the drive as a progress bar or a way to entertain yourself), a icon will popup on you desktop saying CDROM and a picture of a CD.
At least thats in Fedora Core 3-Test 3

Yes, my LG CD-RW (GCE-8523B) is working fine, just like yours. The problem is the CD-ROM drive (GCR-8523B). I can't "see" the contents of any CD inserted there until I manually mount it and then browse to /media/cdrom. I've posted that as a bug in bugzilla (nothing yet), but I'm not sure what package is causing the problem, because from RH9 all the way to FC2 it worked ok. Should be HAL, UDEV or gnome-volume-manager I think
