Authentication Config files

Where is the text based authentication config file I need to edit it via the linux rescue shell.

Hi

Not sure what files you want to edit, but most of your authentication and permission files are in /etc/pam.d. You might get more help if you could explain what it is you are trying to do.

Well in System/Autentication I checked LDAP and now my FC5 won't boot.
I booted on the dvd and went to linux rescue to uncheck the values from the config file.
But so far I'm limited, I cannot see certain files like /boot/grub/grub.conf /etc/pam.d even /etc/openldap/ldap.conf is an empty file so now my guess is to reinstall.
