Hello,
I know there has been a lot of questions about it but I couldnt get my sound to work I tried everything ...
I downloaded new alsa drivers and installed them, but still no sound...
I tried the alsamixer and everything was not muted.....
how can I get my soundcard to work?
I have a Creative Audigy Platinum...

ok try this go to the terminal and run this command:
" kmix "
know click on advance, and check off
"tone" and "Analog/Digital out jack"
see if that works, if not try checking off other thing in the advance.

I tried typing in the terminal kmix and a little window opend but I didnt see any advanced options... maybe because I didnt have anything in the current mixer?
oh and when I opend linux today in said:
¨Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp cant be opend (No such device)
This sound server will continue, using the null output device.¨

so I guess theres something wrong with /dev/dsp.. but I dont know where I can change it...

Hi -
I had the exact same problem with the same SoundCard in FC2, and the previous solution worked for me. Look for the green lights in KMix's GUI. Turn off A/D and experiment with the others until your soundcard works. Of course if the system can't find the soundcard, you might want to make sure it's correctly installed. Does it / Did it work well under your previous OS?

I'm running FC3T2, and i remember a noticable difference between the KMix for v3.2 and 3.3(which is my current deal). To my recollection, the little green lights in kMix are your goal...in my version, there's a tab called switches that will give you the correct resuts. Of course, all of this is dependant on if Fedora finds your soundcard. To my understanding, those options will only show up if Fedora believes that the (SB Audigy) card is there. I don't know what to tell you if it doesn't find it, that's way over my head. Sorry.
