ath0 does not start automatically at boot
This is more of an annoyance than a problem.
I installed madwifi drivers using the rpm files from atrpms. I added this to modprobe.conf:
alias ath0 ath_pci
options ath_pci autocreate=sta
I did a simple modprobe ath_pci, ran system-config-network, and was up and connecting to the internet.
However, everytime I start or reboot the computer, ath0 is inactive and I have to run system-config-network to activate it. Is there a way so I don't have to do this all the time?

Goto /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ and edit the file ifcfg-ath0 and modify the contents from onboot = no to onboot = yes. If you have a ifcfg-eth0 then you may need to modify it if onboot = yes to onboot = no if wireless is going to be used more than a wired ethernet connection.

Ah, thank you very much! That did the trick. I also had to add auto under bitrate because for some reason it was set to zero.
I just deleted the ethernet connection (through system-config-network) because I will probably never use it.
