Debian is well-known for having among the largest, if not the
largest number of packages in its repos. There is no way Debian developers could have developed all of them.
Having used Debian for some time (though I'm not using it now) and having used Fedora for about six months (which was enough), I can say definitely not married. At the same time, if Red Hat or anyone else produces something useful, why not take advantage of it if the license permits?
