ALSA sound problems

To make things short, everything worked when I got a new headset, I started messing with the volume panel gui (changing volumes etc) and all of the sudden it looses all sound that's played (I was managing recording volumes, not output!). After a reboot it can't even find the hardware in alsa. Now I've tried reinstalling and changing drivers for a total of 8-10 hours, so I'm gonna post in here now. :P

The current problem is not that it can't find the hardware, but it loads the hardware without problems but can't play any sound.

Oh, and when I'm trying to run alsaconf this weird thing happens (as when I tried to compile some drivers from the vendor):

[root@c-a76f70d5 alsa-driver-1.0.9]# alsaconf

And this is alsamixer:
alsamixer: relocation error: alsamixer: symbol snd_mixer_selem_get_playback_dB, version ALSA_0.9 not defined in file libasound.so.2 with link time reference

As I said everything is found, system-configure-soundcard finds both the integrated and pci soundcard I'm having installed atm, I inserted the SB Live 5.1 when the integrated AC'97 stopped working. I have no idea of what to try next, I've done everything I know of. Any ideas?
