ALSA problems

Hello Folks

I have a problem with my sound card.. Intel ICH7
lspci shows my sound card Intel ICH7.

I am running FC6

If i login as root and run Alsaconf my Intel sound card is recognised in Alsa but when it tries to inset the files into my core folder there are allot of errors like this one :

WARNING: Error inserting snd_page_alloc (/lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2849.fc6/kernel/sound/core/snd-page-alloc.ko): Operation not permitted

I checked this folder that root has read/write privaleges on these folders.

I do get that anoying beep when the login screen apears, any of the other volume/alsamixer give an error of no such device

Any ideas...

Thanks for replying

Yes Alsaconf could not install modules "WARNING: Error inserting snd_page_alloc (/lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2849.fc6/kernel/sound/core/snd-page-alloc.ko): Operation not permitted"

The Alsaconf finds the correct card but when it tries to configure it i get the above errors.
This is under root login too...

I don't want to disable the boot sound until i get the sound card working (No sound yet)...

The FC6 install works fine apart from this sound issue.
