After Yum Update woes
So I use yum update and it updates everything, pretty easy and nice. It also updates my kernel and when I try to boot into this new kernal, x can't start up and my eth0 doesn't come up. No big deal I think, just reinstall these. I'm using an nforce board with GeForceFX btw.
So I try to rebuild the Nvidia n_force drivers and rpm -Uvh, but it says its already installed. But it doesn't seem to want to start eth0 at startup for me. So I'm thinking this has something to do with inserting modules into the kernal at startup -- but I'm still pretty new to Linux and not sure exactly what I should do on a kernel upgrade to get everything up and running.
Lastly, how do you delete the old kernel entries once you verify the new kernel is good to go? I have three entries listed in Grub atm so I know there around somewhere. )
Thanks for any help-

Look in /boot and you will find the old kernels. Assuming everything is running fine on the latest kernel it is safe to delete the .nptl and .ntpl.img files which belong to the kernel you are not running.
To get rid of the grub entries, edit /boot/grub/grub.conf
I don't know how to help with you other problems though, I'm still pretty much a newbie myself.

Yeah - I had the same. Luckily I'm using a Speedtouch to get onto my ADSL so I don't really care about ETH0:.
(That's GOT to rate as the first time I'm glad I'm using an Alcatel intead of a Ethernet modem to get onto ADSL on Linux! LMAO)
Luckily again I also have the old Kernel bool option on Grub, so I'm just booting to the old Kernel for now...

Anyone else got any ideas about this? I've been running up my old kernal just fine for now but it's stating to grate...
I suppose I could boot into my old Kernel and do an nvidia-installer --uninstall (or whatever it is - can't remember off the top of my head...) then reinstall it on my old Kernel.
What a palaver!
