After lastest up2date NVIDIA suddenly fails

I currently have the latest patches from up2date and the latest Nvidia driver. This is FC2 final. For months now, the Nvidia driver worked fine. THe card is a TNT2 Ultra. What happens now is the screen gets into a bounce loop on boot with the white NVidia spash alternating between that and a login prompt. Have they brokenb something? In case the xorg.conf got stomped on I used the sample one from the NVidia package but it made no difference. Damn annoying as I thought I'd escaped relativity unscathed from all the driver problems reported here - up till now!!

I'd suggest going to the nVidia site and download and install the newest driver manually, you can't depend on some program to update your system for you............
