Adding repositories to Yum? Mandrake migrant needs help.
Hi, I am somewhat new to Linux in general. I used to use Mandriva, it had a cool little thing called urpmi to manage its packages.
I didn't use this program until one day I figured out that you could expand its catalog of searchable programs by going to this website: http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ and adding a few lines of code in the terminal, i.e.: urpmi.addmedia main ftp://mirrors.secsup.org/pub/linux/m...a/main/release with media_info/hdlist.cz Basically, it adds more software to the package manager's catalog beyond the few programs that are included on the installation CD. Now I am using Fedora because some software incompatibility issues, and I would like to know how to do the same thing to Fedora's package manager "yum". Is this possible? Thanks a bunch, Matthew |
You can go to a repository such as livna, then download and install the release rpm for your version of Fedora Core. Another method is to copy .repo files from a packagers website and place them in /etc/yum.repos.d.
