Add/Remove Software utility hangs (FC5)
When I select Applications ==> Add/Remove Software, the program opens and a dialog box appears, saying that it is retrieving some lists. After a bit though, the application's GUI sort of disappears, basically turning gray. It takes somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes before the program is finished and I can browse the software listings. Is this normal behavior? Do I need to change some mirrors somewhere where it retreives this information?

NOTE: When I just use '$ yum install <program>', this operation works must faster.

It's pretty normal with pirut.

I recommend to use your shell with yum directly, as you said, it is much faster. Within time, you'll get used to it and fell very confortable by using yum on a shell.
