add php-gd to

Ok heres my problem. I leased a virtual dedicated box from godaddy. The box reports Fedora Core release 4 (Stentz) i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux. Php is Version 5.0.4 and Apache Version: 2.0.54-10.4

I need GD for the vBulletin software and I'm tearing hair out trying to figure out how to get this installed. I've never had a host not compile GD into php or the update program for that version of Linux.

I'm searching all over and figured out that gd.ini is needed in /ROOT/etc/php.d

I found this rpm file but I'm not real sure its the right one. php-5.2.0-1.fc4.remi.src.rpm And I honestly can't make heads or tales out of most of the man pages for gd as there all from the point of a GUI install on a desktop and installing it as part of php.

Can anyone give me some guidance where to find the correct rpm file just to add gd support to PHP and maybe figure out how to get yum working?

Thanks

Tyson

Hi Tyson,

At this point, we are just guessing that PHP was installed with RPMs. It likely was, but you will want to confirm that. If it was installed from source, we will have to take a different approach. What does
Code:

rpm -qa | grep php-
say?

When you say "get yum working", what exactly is the issue? What is in your /etc/yum.conf file and the repository files?

Well I solved the above issues by Forcing Godaddy to re-provision the virtual box with a different CP.
PHP was installed via RPM's, but they purposely didn't install yum on the box to keep me from breaking there propitiatory CP and updating the kernel because of the modifications they made to it.

All I got to say is if your and experianced user AVOID Godaddys virtual hosting plans. VPSLink has a heck of a lot better system. Its a little pricier but at least it works correctly. Last 72+ hours my service has been up a total of 12 hours.

Anyway I've got all my sites back online and working correctly.

Thanks for the offer to help. If I have anymore questions I will defiantly be back to ask questions.
