ACPI / APM Fedora Core 1 and HP omnibook xe4100 (no power management)!!

Hi All,
Fedora is cool :-) I am running it on my HP Omnibook XE4100 and everything is working great except for power management.
Fedora is using APM. Now the apmd and acpid are running, but the power icon in KDE is showing no battery, and when the battery runs down it just powers off hard!.
I have done some searching around and people mention upgrading your kernel? I have the standard core 1 kernel. I will upgrade if I have to (will have to read up on how mind you) but I am hoping that it does have acpi support and I just have to force it?
Any help on this would be great as it is the last thing thats bugging me.

Thanks in advance for any support.

add 'acpi=on' to /etc/grub.conf:

title Fedora Core (2.4.22-1.2115.nptl)
root (hd0,4)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.22-1.2115.nptl ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi rhgb nofirewire acpi=on
initrd /initrd-2.4.22-1.2115.nptl.img

This should make acpi work after you reboot.

Thanks Mark, that did it :)
Finally everything is working, even vpn and wine. No need to go back.
Your a star!
