About screen saver

Hi all,

I am using Fedora4. When I login as account root, the screen saver can not run in default setting. Following the prompt instruction, I run the command xhost +localhost, but screen saver daemon can not be woken correctly yet. Is there no any way to use screen saver for root? Any suggestion? Thanks for any response.

Screensavers are not available by design when logged in as root. You cannot lock the screen session as root, either, also by design.

It sounds like you are spending too much time logged in as root. At most, you should use the root user login for limited administrative activities, not as your primary login. Many longtime linux users will tell you to NEVER log in as root.
