I have two questions about Fedora Core 3:
1. I want to Install a printer. Fuji Xerox Laser Press 4210, using the graphic enviroment, this model doesn't appear in the list of models, the printer is working on a Unix network. Who can I do to set this printer???
2. I have Toshiba M60 with Windows XP Proffesional installed, I want to install FC3 in this laptop, Who can I do to install it like a program running under WinXP???
1. You have to set it up as a network printer - select the UNIX option and use a generic driver.
2. You cannot install linux "under" windows. Then only way to have both going is to install as a dual boot.
I am assuming that the fuji-xerox laserpress 4210 is a network printer which you acces via a unix network.
The generic driver you choose must be compatable with the printer. (Also, your firewall must be able to let packets to and from the network.) Perhaps the post-script driver?
An alternative, would be to find a fuji or xerox printer which is very like yours - and use it's driver and driver options.
Interestingly, I see that many Xerox or Fujitsu laser printers seem to be very hp-like ... you could probably get away with one of the PCLx drivers (see the printer manual to see if pcl is supported). Many seem to use the hpijs driver, so you could use the hp printer which is closest to yours.
Read the printer manual and read the notes with each of the available drivers.
Or, you could google for a driver to use with this. I havn't had any such luck ... this model seesm to be a Japan only printer - perhaps the generic japanese drivers on the list will work? I can't seem to find an online manual in English, so I cannot get specific.
