Abaqus detects Red Hat 3.0 on my FC3 box

Hello Everybody,

I've been trying to install Abaqus v6.4 on my Fedora C3 and when I run the installer it says:

Running system configuration checks for Pentium/Linux.
Please wait until all the needed information has been gathered...

System requirement status is:

Requirement:          SuSE 7.3, 8.0, 8.1, or 8.2 or Red Hat 8.0 or 9.0
Products:             All ABAQUS Products
Status:               Fail - Found Red Hat 3.0

Requirement:          Processor must support SSE instruction set
Products:             All ABAQUS Products
Status:               Pass

Not all requirement checks succeeded.

I've tried looking into their install script but its way too complicated.

Any suggestions?

You could try changing the /etc/redhat-release file to whatever that was for RH9. (You'd have to look, I don't have any RH9 boxes or VMWare installations.) The software may or may not install correctly if you do that, RH9 is kind of old. Make sure you change it back to the original after you're done so other stuff won't be messed up.

I arrived to the same solution this morning and it seems to work.

For anyone who is curious, you have to change the string in /etc/redhat-release to

"Red Hat Linux release 9 (Shrike)"

no quotes
