A simple package to read .avi files

Hi folks,

FedoraCore2

Please recommend a simple software whcih can be downloaded with 'yum' for reading 'avi' files. The same is expected to be installed and configured easily.

TIA

I believe this might be just what you are looking for:

http://stanton-finley.net/fedora_cor...notes.html#Yum

follow the step by step directions, and you will have access to xine and mplayer builds through yum/apt (the guide covers both). I would also suggest retrieving the "all" codec package from MPlayer's downloads site.

Mplayer Home Page:

Hope this helps.

if by simple you mean a command line one, there's aviplay (from avifile package) but I don't know if it can be installed with yum

Hi folks,

Tks for your advice.

What I need is just to play the .avi file on Internet which I came across during browsing. Or after downloading it to PC for future playing initiated only with a click. I don't mean to play the .avi files on CD (video). Whether I just need a plugin for the browser, Mozilla, Konqueror, etc.?
