What did you update? What are the last things in your /var/log/yum.log?

selinux can be disabled at boot,
Add selinux=0 to your kernel command line.

eg highlight the kernel you wish to boot in grub and press "e" then select the second line down and press "e" then go to the end of the line and add " selinux=0" and press return then press "b"

you could also try booting into single user mode as well by using the word single instead of selinux=0, then just type passwd to reset your root password then reboot.

if that works i suggest you run system-config-securitylevel to sort out your selinux settings

hope this helps
