2gb fedora 9 install on eeepc

hey all. i want to install fedora 9 on my eee pc. i have the following setup:

4gig ssd=sda
sda1 windows (2gigs)
sda2 fedora (2gigs)

16 gig sd card for xp program files, my documents and possibly linux home folder

trouble is i need to slim it down to under 2 gigs. i have tried the livecd but it is too big. also when i do a custom install, gnome seems to big too. i am not a complete newb, but it is difficult for me to go through every package and know what i will need to follow the instructions here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EeePc

could anyone help me or offer some ways to slim down the install size to well under 2 gigs? i like gnome but i dont mind using xfce or openbox..

You say you have 2gigs but the live CD is too big? The live CD is under 800mb.

I just checked my usb F9 stick and including a 2gb data overlay it is only 2.8gb. So I have to guess that either you installed a lot of other stuff or something went wrong. Did you allow it to make a swap partition?
